Part of travelling is sampling local dishes, and this activity is one of our family’s favorites. Thus, when we were in Siem Reap, trying various local dishes became as important as exploring the ruins of Angkor.
Here are some of our favorite yummy eats in Siem Reap:
Fish Amok. What can we say? It’s the national dish, and rightfully so. We learned that the term “amok” or “mok” means curry cooking in banana leaves and we loved it! The smell, the flavor… makes me drool just thinking about it.
Samlaa Khaeng Phet. We love Southeast Asian curry, and this version in Siem Reap is delectably excellent indeed!
Korean dishes at Dae Bak. This is an exception as the dishes here are not local, but authentic Korean. But what can we do? Our kids, especially our daughter, love anything Korean, and Dae Bak being one of the most popular restaurants in Siem Reap, we just get to sample what it offers. We’re totally satisfied.
