Longshan Temple is believed to be the oldest temple in Taipei. It was built in 1738 by settlers from Fujian, China. The Longshan Temple had been rebuilt many times over due to destruction it suffered throughout the years, particularly during World War 2. Like most temples in Taiwan, Longshan Temple worships a mixture of Buddhist, Taoist and folk deities such as Matsu. During my visit to the temple, I took interest with the colorful balloons in the temple, as well as its architecture, adorned by dragons. The lights produce a golden glow which made the temple very nice to look at, especially in the evening.
